Ex-Mayor and Councillors submitted deputation

Agartala: June 08: The former Left councilors on Tuesday submitted a deputation to the commissioner of the corporation demanding not be cancelled of 6143 houses allotted in the Agartala municipal corporation area under the Prime Minister's Housing Scheme.
Recently, the corporation has been giving notification about the houses allotted under the Prime Minister's Housing Scheme for three days. The 6143 houses received in the second and third DPR under the Prime Minister's Housing Scheme have not been made till date. Municipal Corporation has issued a notice to show why the beneficiaries did not build the houses. The notice said that the corporation has to reply by June 11. If they can't give a proper answer, the houses will be canceled. On Tuesday, the former Left councilor demanded that the houses not be canceled and that the beneficiaries be given one and a half to two months.
Former deputy mayor Samar Chakraborty, former mayor-in-council Phulan Bhattacharjee and Biswajit Deb and others were present during the deputation to the commission with a total of four demands. Former deputy mayor Samar Chakraborty said that all those who got houses are from the poorer parts. Because of Corona, their income is now at the bottom. Due to lockdown and corona curfew, they are not able to take care of the family properly. He demanded that the officials of the corporation visits house to house and review the matter on the spot.
The former deputy mayor demanded that the decision be taken after talking to the beneficiaries. It has been demanded to change the date given to the beneficiaries for a few more days.
