TSF joined the protest without getting scholarship money

Agartala: Sept 14: Students staged a protest in front of the Tribal Welfare Department on Tuesday at the initiative of the Tripura Students Federation. Their demand is for the government to immediately take away the scholarship money they have for higher education.
Subsequent deputations were made to Additional Secretary and Principal LT Darlong. On this day, the TSF went to the Tribal Welfare Department in Gurkhabasti and gave this deputation. Earlier, the deputation was also informed to the principal for awarding merit scholarships to ST students. But the director said that there is some problem in giving this money of the bank. The TSF re-appointed the deputation on the same day as no action was taken.
Their said that so far some students have received merit scholarships and some have not. They claimed is that 12,000 students have not yet received the scholarship money. Some of them were studying in university and some in college. John Debbarma, general secretary of the TSF, said the inequality in the payment of scholarships needs to be addressed. The government will have to pay the scholarship dues of the current financial year immediately. Every year they suffer in this way for scholarships and said they would not receive scholarships without movement. The students protested against the government saying that they would be forced to join a larger movement tomorrow.
