Diesel price going down Rs. 8, petrol Rs. 9 and a half

Agartala: May 21: The central government has decided to reduce the excise tax for petrol by Rs 9.50 and diesel by Rs 6. The price of petrol will be reduced by Rs 9.50 per liter and the price of diesel will be reduced by Rs 8 per liter. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman tweeted this. Besides, it has been decided to subsidize Ujjwala gas cylinder Rs 200.

This facility is available in 12 cylinders per year. As a result, 90 million customers will benefit, said the Union Finance Minister. Nirmala Sitharaman tweeted that the central excise duty is being reduced by Rs 8 per liter for petrol and Rs 6 per liter for diesel. As a result, the price of petrol in the country will be reduced by Rs 9.5 per liter and the price of diesel will be reduced by Rs 8 per liter. As a result, the center will give 1 lakh crore rupees from the treasury every year.

Taking to Twitter, the Union Finance Minister appealed to the states to reduce tariffs further. According to Sitaraman's tweet, the Prime Minister's subsidization of the Ujjwala Yojana by Rs 200 per cylinder will result in an additional expenditure of Rs 6,100 crore per annum from the central exchequer. The new price will be effective from midnight on Saturday.
