Agartala: Aug 09: State celebrates International Indigenous Peoples Day today. In 1994, the United Nations passed a resolution to celebrate this day as the International Day of Indigenous Peoples to establish the rights of indigenous peoples. Since then the day is celebrated as International Day all over the world. Gana Mukti Parishad has decided to celebrate Adivasi Odhikar Day as Adivasi Odhikar Rashtriya Manch in the country.

A rally was organized in Agartala on Tuesday by the Ganamukti Parishad. According to the decision of the Gana Mukti Parishad, to send the copy of the 5-point demand charter to the President after the celebration of the Day. Notable among these demands is the passage of the 125th Amendment Bill to the Constitution. It was demanded to pass April for financial and social development in ADC area. Along with this, the Kakbarak language is claimed to fill the co-zero gap of being included in the eighth schedule language. After the procession, a meeting was organized in front of the city center of the capital. Jitendra Chowdhury, State President of Tripura Tribal People's Liberation Parishad, addressed the meeting and said; the glory of the tribals played a brilliant role in the country's independence. The first Santal rebellion against the British was organized by the tribals. So it was the tribals who first fought the British with their blood to liberate the country.

Jiten Chowdhury raised questions about what rights have been established for them in the country during the 75 years of independence. He also said that despite having the most roles in the freedom movement, they are in the most poverty today. They not only suffer from poverty but also from malnutrition. Even the tribal people are suffering the most social humiliation. The most brutal tyranny is going on at the center and state governments. And during the current government period, the tribal people are the most in short supply. And the central government is giving billions of rupees to the capitalists. It is not trying to do anything for the development of tribals.

Even the tribal people of Tripura state have been deprived in the last four and a half years. Unemployed people in villeges of Tripura state are suffering from lack of employment due to not being able to comply with many documents. As a result, they turn to drugs in desperation. He said that it has destroyed the new generation. Therefore, to protect the language, culture and existence of the tribals, Chowdhury said, The General Secretary of the Tribal People's Liberation Council and other leaders were also present in the meeting.
