Agartala: Sept 22: Voting for the by-election of the only Rajya Sabha seat in the state was held on Thursday. Voting took place in the lobby of the assembly from this morning. The members of the state assembly voted for the only seat in the Rajya Sabha. There are two candidates. Bharatiya Janata Party candidate is former Chief Minister Biplap Kumar Deb.

On the other hand, the candidate of the Left Front is the former minister and current MLA Bhanu Lal Saha. Voting took place peacefully in the lobby of the Legislative Assembly on this day. The counting will be done in the afternoon. Only then will it be known who will be the next MP from Tripura to the Rajya Sabha. About 6 months ago, the present Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha won from this seat.

He became an MP when he was the president of the state BJP. But later Manik Saha became the Chief Minister when Biplab Dev resigned as Chief Minister and after being elected as an MLA, he resigned as a Rajya Sabha MP before taking oath. As a result, a by-election became necessary in this seat. Election Commission of India 22 September announced the polling date. Thus the vote was taken on Thursday.
