4 including BJP corporator arrested

Agartala: Jan 22: Four persons including a corporator of Municipal Corporation have been arrested in connection with the beating of a Congress worker. As the elections are approaching, the political mercury is rising. There are reports of attacks and counter-attacks from different places. The incident happened on Saturday night in suburban Subhashnagar Dukli housing complex area. Congress worker Pankaj Barman was allegedly attacked by BJP miscreants during the night. The affected Congress worker filed a case at the East Agartala police station after reporting the incident. The police investigated the case and arrested four persons, including the accused BJP corporator of Ward No. 51, Sushanta Chandra Bhowmik. Meanwhile, the police also arrested Pankaj Barman, an aggrieved Congress worker, after filing a counter-case against him. Both the parties were produced before the court on Sunday. All the houses of the arrested are in Dukli housing complex area.Tags: Tripura Others
