Agartala: Apr 08: In a significant step toward ensuring peaceful elections, Chief Secretary JK Sinha inaugurated the “Voting without Election Violence” program at Gram Swaraj Bhavan in Itanagar today. The event brought together key officials, including State Police Director General Amitabh Ranjan, Chief Electoral Officer Puneet Agarwal, and Home Secretary Dr. PK Chakraborty.

The program witnessed the participation of District Election Officers, District Magistrates, Superintendents of Police, Sub-Divisional Magistrates, Sub-Divisional Police Officers, and other election-related officials from the state’s eight districts.

Chief Secretary JK Sinha highlighted the state’s recent achievement during the 2023 Tripura Assembly elections, which were conducted entirely without violence. Praised at an all-India meeting organized by the Election Commission of India, this successful voting process served as an example for others. Sinha urged officers to maintain close communication with political parties and candidates, ensuring fair and festive elections while promptly addressing any complaints.

State Police Director General Amitabh Ranjan emphasized the need for innovative measures to guarantee violence-free elections. He revealed that over 2,500 flag marches have taken place across the state since March 1, 2024. Additionally, authorities have seized illegal goods worth approximately Rs 9 crore in the past month.

Chief Electoral Officer Puneet Agarwal echoed the commitment to a violence-free electoral process, aligning with the positive trend set during the last Assembly elections. As the Lok Sabha elections approach, the focus remains on conducting a fair and peaceful voting experience for all citizens.
