Concerns Raised Over Food Quality in Local Restaurants and Sweet Shops
By Discover Tripura Correspondent

Agartala: July 23: In Agartala, the rapid growth of private restaurants and sweet shops has led to concerns about food quality and hygiene. Following complaints, the Sadar Sub-Divisional Administration conducted raids on several establishments on Tuesday morning.

During the raid, officials discovered unsanitary conditions at Abhishek Restaurant, a well-known establishment in the city. The kitchen was found to be using outdated equipment, and the food preparation area was deemed unclean. As a result, the kitchen was closed, and food samples were collected for laboratory testing. The administration plans to take further action based on the test results.

The administrative team also inspected other restaurants in Kaman Chowmuhani. They found that some establishments were storing stale food, including biryani, cooked meat, and chowmein, from two days prior. These items were being kept in refrigerators to be reheated and served to customers.

Officials warned that consuming such unsanitary food could lead to serious health issues. The administration emphasized the need for regular inspections to ensure food safety. Additionally, concerns were raised about the high prices charged by these restaurants, which are often beyond the reach of the average consumer. The administration has yet to address the issue of excessive pricing.

The outcome of the raids and the subsequent actions by the administration remain to be seen.
