Agartala: Sept 30: In a review meeting held at the Tripura Police Headquarters, Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha asserted that the police force is now free from political pressure, a significant shift from past practices. The meeting was attended by high-ranking police officers from both state and district levels.
Chief Minister Saha highlighted the BJP government’s ongoing efforts to maintain law and order in the state. He noted a significant decrease in the crime rate compared to a decade ago, attributing this improvement to the government’s initiatives. He urged police officers to work with transparency to ensure the safety and security of the public, especially during festivals.
Reflecting on past issues, Saha mentioned that previously, complaints filed at police stations often went unresolved, with many FIRs being dismissed in court. He has now directed the police to revisit old case files and initiate re-investigations. Addressing traffic congestion, he acknowledged the shortage of traffic police and the increasing congestion in the city, stating that the government is actively working to manage this issue.
Saha also addressed concerns raised by the opposition regarding incidents of extortion by various clubs. He emphasized that the opposition is attempting to portray a lack of rule of law in Tripura, but assured that law enforcement is actively working to curb extortion. Police officers have been instructed to take necessary actions in this regard.Tags: Tripura Others
