Agartala: Oct 01: The Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) has raised serious concerns about the escalating violence and lawlessness in Tripura. During a protest march in the city, the young leadership of DYFI highlighted the increasing attacks on teachers, artists, journalists, doctors, police personnel, and ordinary citizens. They described the situation as a reign of jungle law, with mafia terror, extortion, and blackmail becoming rampant.
A DYFI member expressed deep concern over the chaotic state of affairs, noting that violence against students, young women, and women is on the rise. She cited a tragic incident from March 2020, where a 22-year-old girl was gang-raped and burnt to death in Mohanpur, and lamented the lack of justice in such cases. The member also pointed out the widespread issue of drug addiction, which is devastating families and communities, and criticized the lack of strict action against drug traffickers.
The DYFI delegation met with the Director General of Police (DGP) to demand the establishment of the rule of law, enhanced safety for students and women, and stringent measures to curb the drug trade and prosecute traffickers.Tags: Tripura Others
