State-Level Orange Festival Held in Killa, Bagmara

Agartala: 9 November : On Saturday, the state-level Orange Festival was held in the Killa area of the Bagmara Assembly Constituency. The event was attended by Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath, MLA Rampad Jamatiya, MLA Ranjit Das, Agriculture Department Secretary Apurba Roy, and other distinguished guests. Minister Ratan Lal Nath inaugurated the festival by lighting a ceremonial lamp.

Farmers from various parts of the state participated in the festival, showcasing their harvested oranges. The event provided an important platform for local farmers to display the quality and diversity of oranges produced in Tripura.

In his inaugural speech, Minister Ratan Lal Nath highlighted the state's economic growth, stating that in the fiscal year 2023-24, the people of Tripura earned ₹82,625 crore. He emphasized that under the current government, there has been a significant increase in the income of the people, with the highest growth observed in the agricultural sector. He further reiterated the government's focus on creating jobs and promoting self-reliance, with initiatives like "One Tripura, Best Tripura" and "Self-Reliant Tripura."

Minister Nath also pointed out that the state’s Queen Pineapple, which has a Geographical Indication (GI) tag, is now being exported abroad, marking a significant achievement for Tripura’s agricultural sector. He stressed that Tripura is emerging as a model for the rest of the world, and its agricultural products are gaining international recognition.

The festival featured various exhibitions showcasing different varieties of oranges and farming techniques, promoting innovation and knowledge-sharing among local farmers.
