Tripura Women's Federation Protests Against Five-Star Hotel Construction at Pushpavanta Palace
By Discover Tripura Correspondent
The Tripura Women's Federation has vehemently protested against the construction of a five-star hotel at Pushpavanta Palace. Today, the organization organized a protest march on the streets. The march started from Vivekananda Maidan and traversed various roads in the city, culminating in a sit-in in front of the Circuit House.
They demanded that a five-star hotel should not be built at Pushpavanta Palace under any circumstances.
A leader of the organization stated that it was learned through social media that the state government has decided to convert Agartala's old palace into a five-star hotel. Pushpavanta Palace is an ancient royal palace of Tripura. It was built by Maharaja Virendra Kishore Manikya in 1917. Until 2018, it served as the Raj Bhavan of Tripura, but was later relocated. However, the state government has decided to build a five-star hotel in the old palace. This palace carries the legacy of Tripura's royal era.
Today, she appealed to the state government to reconsider this decision, as this decision could destroy the existence of the royal era. If this palace is converted into a five-star hotel, its name will be changed, which would be completely wrong. The TWF has strongly protested against this.
They demanded that instead of building a hotel in this palace, built by Maharaja Virendra Kishore Manikya Bahadur in 1917, it should be preserved.Tags: Tripura Others
